The Council has general oversight of the life and activities of St. Paul’s congregation, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything is to be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Duties include leading the congregation in stating its mission, setting goals and priorities, evaluating activities in light of the church’s mission and goals, and long range planning. They are also responsible for the financial and property matters of the congregation.
The Council seeks to involve all members of the congregation in worship, learning, witness, service, and support and oversees and provides for the administration of the congregation to enable it to fulfill its functions and perform its mission. They maintain supportive relationships with the pastor(s) and staff and help them evaluate the fulfillment of their calling, appointment, or employment.
